My Pictures

I have been asked few times how do I photograph clothing for my shop. I figure I can share my equipment and some small tips with you.
Most of the pictures I take for my shop are taken indoors. It can be very challenging at times but very practical and time saving. I try to avoid shadows and make sure the colors are matching the real life.
My camera is nothing very expensive. It's a basic SLR, NIKON D3100. I have had it for about 6 months now and I had the same one before. It's very easy to use. I do not use the flash that came with camera. I bought Sunpak auto 144 PC on ebay for about 20$, the flash makes a huge difference when it comes to photographing indoors. I always use manual setting on my camera and sometimes I play around with settings.
I do have a tripod and I used to model myself for the majority of my photographs but I have moved to a different space and I have had issues with finding the right place to stand without having have to crop a lot of space. These days I invite a friend for some wine and it works out better this way. I do prefer a model to dress form but most days its just easier to use the dress form.
I hope I answered some of your questions. Let me know if you would like more details on actual photo-taking.
